Impacted by plant interruption, GNFC Q3 Net Down

The fertilizers and chemicals major GUJARAT NARMADA VALLEY FERTILIZERS CO. LTD. has posted results for the third quarter/ nine months of FY 2006-07 ended 31st December, 2006 which have been impacted by unplanned shutdown of Ammonia Plant of 36 days and of 30 days for other major plants. The plants were recommissioned during the quarter.

Announcing the highlights of results at Baroda on 19th January, 2007, Shri SG Mankad, Chairman of the company, released details of performance:

  • In the quarter under review, the company achieved
    • Profit before Tax (PBT) of Rs. 79.28 crores – as against Rs. 102.57 crores.
    • Profit after Tax (PAT) of Rs. 52.19 crores – as against Rs. 67.59 crores.
    • Quarterly net sales turnover of Rs. 523.08 crores compared to Rs. 620.45 crores.
    • EPS is Rs. 3.56 in the quarter compared to Rs. 4.61 in the corresponding previous quarter.
    • The Company has Mega Insurance Policy and Claims are lodged/ Conservatively accounted.

Shri Balwant Singh, MD gave further details of sales and earnings.

  • In the nine months under review, the company achieved
    • Profit before Tax (PBT) of Rs. 260.20 crores – down by 14% from Rs. 304.27 crores. (Past period included one time major income of Rs. 35.43 crores.)
    • Profit after Tax (PAT) of Rs. 173.19 crores – down by 14% from Rs. 201.39 crores.
    • The Company has attained a growth in net sales to the tune of 10%.
    • EPS is lower at Rs. 11.82 in the nine months from Rs. 13.75 over corresponding previous period.
